Making Videos For X-Perimental Mass

Welcome once again my good folks! Wow I can't believe we are in September already and its 20:16 on a Sunday evening and I still haven't eaten (lunch or dinner). The reason is I got hooked on Adobe Premiere putting together a couple of videos for 'Afro Head Charge' and 'Space Race 1'. It was my first attempt at using Adobe Premiere and I am a complete novice at it .  I am very much aware its a beast of an editor.

Saying that I've learnt quite a bit over the last 3-4 days and I already had in mind the vision that I wanted for both tracks. I had to source material outside to create these videos as they are not performance or directorial based. I compiled various footage and clips from a free licensing site. The end result is pretty cool and the response has been a pretty positive one.

For Afro Head Charge I had in my mind scenes of African drummers inter-spliced with the current climate and even past struggles regarding civil rights, racism, police brutality etc The concept of Head Charge was also a dual one in that the head charge was an elevation of the people of the motherland and the African diaspora raising their level of consciousness via connecting to the source of the Most High...some would call it the ether.

I wanted to showcase JoVia playing on her bongos and percussion but due to time constraints and her many commitments that couldn't materialize. I soon got to work though and it was a true labour of love.

I was thinking of putting in clips of myself too but I have an idea for when I think its best for me to appear in a video for this EP project. If it goes ahead..you will be the first to know! I just need to clarify the concept.

I also have onboard my homeboy Art Digital who worked on some beautiful graphic image designs for the video. But his work with me will also no doubt end up being merchandise down the line.

I saw some brilliant footage on this site called Videovo. I also looked at Shuttershock. The frustrating thing along the way was that the most brilliant footage was not allowing a license for the clips to be used with music for public performance/entertainment of any kind.

Also when X-Perimental Mass was released I really wanted to get 'Afro Head Charge' and its video done during the time the BLM marches were going on. I had it in mind to tie it to a charity for the cause.

Well it has finally materialized and it has arrived at a time when I have a VEVO channel too so that's a great bonus.

Well the time is 20:53 on a Sunday evening and the sound of the Bee Gee's BEAUTIFUL 'How Deep Is Your Love' performed by Portrait is playing on The Soul Of London FM and I'm actually feeling quite euphoric despite not eating lol. I'm going to take a final look and tweak the video for 'Space Race 1' The power of completing a task is a beautiful thing..isn't it? ;)

I guess its back to work!!!

Speak to you all soon :)
